The community is fighting to protect a historic street.
The Jefferson Street Historical Society is hoping to establish legal and zoning frameworks to protect Jefferson Street’s historic character and structures as the “Choose How You Move” plan pushes forward. Jefferson Street is the home to historically Black institutions and businesses and is a cultural cornerstone of Nashville.
Community members are asking that major infrastructure changes protect the street and allow for growth, without erasing the people and business who kept it alive.
