Springfield residents and local business owners are excited to see the return of this!
The Capitol Theatre has sat downtown for almost 90 years in Springfield and closed some years ago, which also slowed down foot traffic to the downtown area. Now, the theater has new ownership and is planning on reopening, which could help bring even more business downtown.
Tonight, the theater’s new projection sign will be lit for the first time to celebrate the new beginning. There will be a ceremony at 7:30pm if you’d like to attend, which will feature live music, a historical presentation and free popcorn.
